Spartans Dominate on The Road Against Newport
The Bainbridge Island Spartans Boys High School water polo team played a great game against the Newport Boys High School team. The two teams battled it out during all four quarters, which ended in a 16-4 Spartan victory.
Offensive Highlights
- Ryan Rich, Jonas Fritzsche and Beckett Lipton with 3 goals apiece, setting a fast and intense pace for the whole game, Lucas Cuellar-Carpenter and Miles Lawson scoring 2 goals each to end the game 16-4.
- Calvin Cox led the teams average for assists with 3 assists which changed the pace for the offensive attack.
Defensive Highlights
- Ryan Rich, Beckett Lipton and Calvin Cox had 3 steals apiece changing the offensive pace throughout the game.
- Oren Screen had 3 blocks on goal adding to the strength the boys showed today.
Starting Junior, Beckett Lipton shared what he thought of how he and his team played this early on in their season:
“Yesterday’s 16-4 victory showed the importance of controlling the tempo of the game, especially with our fast counter-attacks and strong press defense. We did a good job executing in transition, but improving our offensive movement and passing will help create even more opportunities in future competitions.”
The Spartans head to Bellevue on Thursday and will look to extend their winning streak.
